Triorities Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 1, 2026 Last updated: May 3, 2026

This is the privacy policy for Triorities, a daily-priority app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, published by Steven Hovater (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version: we don’t run a server, we don’t collect your data, and we don’t track you. Everything you write, record, or attach in Triorities lives on your device and — if you’re signed in to iCloud — in your own private iCloud database. We can’t see it.

1. Information we collect

None. Triorities does not have a backend server. We don’t operate accounts, analytics, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting services, or any other system that would transmit your data to us or to a third party.

The app does store information you create — Triorities, Life Priorities, plan items, reflections, audio journals, transcripts, and settings — but that information stays on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your own iCloud account.

2. Information stored on your device and in your iCloud account

Triorities saves the following on your device, using Apple’s SwiftData framework:

  • Triorities you create — title, date, slot (1, 2, or 3), done state, optional reflection text.
  • Life Priorities — the longer-term themes you link Triorities to.
  • Plan items — references (identifiers) to Reminders or Calendar events you’ve attached to a Triority. Triorities does not copy the Reminder’s text, due date, or notes into its own database; it only stores Apple’s identifier so it can ask Apple’s apps to display the live version.
  • Daily journals — optional audio recordings (up to two minutes each) and their on-device transcripts.
  • App settings — your day boundary preference, your default calendar, the Reminders list Triorities should use, and onboarding/usage flags.

If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled for Triorities, the same content is replicated through Apple’s CloudKit service into the private database of your iCloud account, so it can sync to your other Apple devices. The private database is end-to-end-managed by Apple and is not visible to us.

If you choose not to use iCloud, this content stays only on the device where you created it.

3. System permissions Triorities asks for

Triorities asks for the following permissions only when needed and only to provide a feature you’ve initiated. You can change any of these later in Settings → Privacy & Security on iOS, or System Settings → Privacy & Security on macOS.

Reminders

Used so you can attach a Reminder to a Triority, or pick an existing one. Triorities reads the Reminders you select or create, marks them done when you tap the ring, and (if you opt in) creates a dedicated list called “Triorities.” We never read Reminders you haven’t linked to a Triority through us.

Calendar

Used so you can attach a calendar event to a Triority, or create a new one. Triorities reads the events you select or create. We never read events you haven’t linked to a Triority through us.

Microphone

Used only when you tap Record in the daily audio journal. Audio is captured on the device.

Speech Recognition

Used only to transcribe a daily audio journal you’ve recorded, so you can read it back later. Triorities asks Apple’s SFSpeechRecognizerto perform the transcription on-device whenever the device supports it. In some cases — for example, on older devices or in unsupported locales — Apple’s speech recognizer may send audio to Apple’s servers for transcription. That transmission is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours, and the audio leaves your device only for the transcription request itself.

Notifications

Triorities does not send remote push notifications. The remote-notification background mode in our app declaration is reserved for CloudKit’s silent change notifications, which Apple uses to keep your data in sync between your devices. No content is sent to us.

4. Purchases

Triorities offers a single one-time, family-shareable in-app purchase to unlock unlimited day planning after a 14-day free trial. Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store through StoreKit. We do not see, store, or transmit your payment information. Apple shares with us only aggregated, anonymous sales reports, in line with their developer agreement.

To restore a previous purchase on a new device, use Restore Purchases on the paywall screen.

5. Third parties

Triorities uses the following Apple services, all of which run on your device or inside your iCloud account:

  • Apple SwiftData — local on-device storage.
  • Apple CloudKit (private database) — optional cross-device sync.
  • Apple EventKit — Reminders and Calendar integration.
  • Apple Speech (SFSpeechRecognizer) — on-device (and occasionally on-Apple-servers) transcription of your audio journal.
  • Apple StoreKit — in-app purchase processing.

Triorities does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or A/B-testing SDKs.

6. Children

Triorities is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. The app does not require a sign-in.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because we don’t have a server, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.

  • To delete an individual Triority, open it and tap Delete (only available on the current day).
  • To delete a daily audio journal, open the journal and tap Delete.
  • To erase everything Triorities has saved, delete the Triorities app from your device. Your iCloud copy can be removed from Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Triorities → Delete Data.

If you need a clean slate while keeping the app installed, sign out of iCloud for Triorities, delete and reinstall the app, then sign back in.

8. International users

Triorities is sold worldwide through the Apple App Store. Because the app does not transmit your content to us, no international data transfers take place between you and us. iCloud sync is governed by your agreement with Apple.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at https://triorities.app/privacy. Material changes will be called out in the app’s release notes.
